Cisco AnyConnect VPN Instructions – Updated 1/2020 by AP
PLEASE NOTE: You CANNOT VPN while you are connected to Stellar’s network. You must be connected to any other network, which could be at home, your phone’s hotspot, etc.
IT will initiate an enrollment email for Duo Security. Duo is a multi-factor authentication service that Stellar uses for security. You will receive an email as shown in the screenshot below:
Be sure to open this email on your computer, not your phone. Once you have the email open on your computer, click the first link and it will take you to a page to enroll in Duo. Once you are on that page, leave it open and move onto the next step.
Go to your smart phone and download the app called Duo Mobile, see the screenshot below:
Now go back to your computer with the Duo tab open and click Start setup
You will now see a screen asking which type of device you are going to add for authentication. Select Mobile phone and click Continue
You will now be asked for your phone number. Enter it is and click Continue
You will then be asked what type of phone you have, select which one applies to you.
You will now be asked to install Duo Mobile on your phone. Since you have already completed this step, you can click the I have Duo Mobile installed button
You will now be prompted to activate Duo Mobile. Open the app on your phone and click Add account
Your camera on your phone should now open to scan the QR code that is displayed on your computer screen. If necessary, allow the app permission to use your camera. Once allowed, scan the QR code on your computer screen with your phone.
The account is now activated on your phone. You will see the screenshot below. Click Continue
You will now be asked to select what authentication method you want to use. Click the drop-down box and select Automatically send this device a Duo Push and click Finish Enrollment
You will now see that your Duo enrollment was successful
Note: Unless you get a new phone, you will not have to go through the steps above again. You will still have to use Duo to allow yourself access each and every time though.
Go to your Start menu and search for a folder that says Cisco and expand it until you see the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and open it
You will see the program open the in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Type in the following URL and click Connect: https://garnervpn.stellarindustries.com
Before logging in with your username and password. Please make sure the VPN group is set to Garner-AnyConnect. Click the drop down and select Garner-AnyConnect. You will be able to login with your normal username and password.

Make sure you have the Duo Mobile app open on your phone prior to trying to login, because you will have to approve the request quickly.
Once you enter your credentials, you should see a green notification pop up in the Duo app asking for you to approve the login request. Click in the green and click Approve
After you approve the request, the program will start logging you in and you will eventually see a message in the bottom right that says Connected
