Sending email on behalf of another user

Summary

This article will show you how to send an email on behalf of another user or mailbox. Note: You will need the proper permissions on the mailbox you are trying to send on behalf of.

Body

It can take up to an hour after IT has given you access to a mailbox before you see it in your Outlook.

You will see the mailboxes that you have access to in the left section of your Outlook.  It will show up at the bottom, but you can drag it to the top if you would like.

Sending email on behalf of another user:

  • You can create an email like you would normally do, it doesn’t matter if you have your email up or the shared mailbox.
  • In the new email window, click on the Options tab and select From

  • Click the from box and choose Other Email address

  • Type in the email address of the user that you want to send on behalf of.

  • Click OK and then you will be able to select the other user to send email on their behalf.

  • If you don’t want to see the from option, you can go back to the options tab in your new email window and deselect “From”.
