Overview
The location of the KnowBe4 Phish Alert Button (PAB) changes with different versions of Outlook. These instructions will help you locate and use the PAB.
Note: You will need to have an email selected (If you are using the reading pane), or opened. If you don't have an email selected or open, the PAB will be either grayed out or not even visible in some situations.
What the Phish Alert Button (PAB) looks like
These are the different icons used for the PAB. It will look different depending on your Outlook settings.
Locating the Phish Alert Button
Older versions of Outlook:
Older versions of Outlook with show the PAB on the ribbon on the top of your Outlook.
If you use the simplified ribbon, it will look like this:
If you use the classic ribbon, it will look like this:
Newer versions of Outlook:
Newer versions of Outlook have removed the PAB from the ribbon. You will need to look in the top right of the email section. Depending on the size of the Outlook window, you may see an app icon (Shown in the following image).
If your Outlook window is smaller, you may not see that icon. If this is the case, select the three dots and then you will see the option for Apps. If you still don't see the Apps option, make sure your Outlook is maximized.
Once you have found the Apps section, open it and it and you should see the Phish Alert Button.
You might even see the PAB next to the three dots and the apps icon as seen in the screenshot below.
Using the PAB
- Select or open the email you want to report
- Locate and click the Phish Alert Button
- You will see a new Phish Alert section pop open on the right side of your Outlook. When you are sure this is the email you want to report, click Phish Alert on the bottom.
